Doug Ross: Unprecedented: White House Tries to Ban Fox from Press Pool
Today the White House stepped up its attack on Fox News, announcing that the network would no longer be able to conduct interviews with officials as a member of the Press Pool. The Pool is a five-member group consisting of ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News and NBC organized by the White House Correspondents Association. Its membership is not subject to oversight by the government. [...]
Allahpundit at HA: It’s come to this: White House tries to bar Fox News from interviewing pay czar
Decide for yourself what the most disgraceful aspect of this is. Was it the fact that Gibbs told Jake Tapper explicitly on Monday that the White House wouldn’t try to dictate to the press pool who should and shouldn’t be included — before doing precisely that? Was it Anita Dunn going out of her way to say she respects Major Garrett as a fair reporter — before the administration decided he didn’t deserve a crack here at Feinberg? Or was it the repeated insistence by Dunn and Axelrod that of course the administration will make its officials available to Fox — before pulling the plug today. [...]
DrewM at Ace: Thugocracy...Obama White House Trys To Exlude Fox News From Pay Czar Interviews
While Obama is busy feeding his lap dogs their talking points, his press operation is trying to exclude a news organization that isn't drinking the Kool Aid. [...]
Allahpundit at HA: NYT: Obama whined about Fox News at off-the-record briefing with lefty pundits
[...] Dude, Glenn Beck’s own fans don’t obsess about him this much. How do we put The One’s mind at ease here? Taxpayer-funded psychotherapy? A week off at Camp David? A security blanket, perhaps emblazoned with the “O” logo that he loves so much? I’m not being altruistic; we’ve reached the point where, purely out of self-interest, we may need to start worrying about this guy being on the red line with Medvedev, chatting about nukes, and letting his mind wander to what Sean Hannity said about him that night. What can we do to help this poor afflicted individual get the help he needs? [...]
The Lid: Barack Obama Continues to "Wag The Fox" Gets Bitch Slapped Instead
SLAM!! The White House got a major league bitch slap today as it tried to escalate its censorship of Fox News but received no cooperation from the other networks. On today's special report host Bret Bair told the story of Obama's foolishness. [...]
The White House banned FOX News today from interviewing the Pay Czar along with the other four major state-run media outlets. FOX News has been a member of the five network rotation since 1997. Surprisingly, the Washington bureau chiefs of the five TV news networks stepped in an agreed to skip the interview if FOX was not included. [...]
So, the Fox News war is still going on with no let up in sight. As far as everyone knows Obama is losing this one. He tried to get Fox News kicked out but, um, er, uh, that didn't work now, did t? Idiots.
Free Republic: Chavez (Obama's "friend") threatens to close TV channel critical of him
Oh. Wait. That was someone else! OOPS! Well, Obama IS making Chavez proud.
Dan Riehl: Obama Orders Fox From Chicken House Pool
This weak administration is now certifiably insane. For the first time in my life I'm actually uncomfortable knowing that this guy has control of our military and Federal police forces. If he thinks he can simply shut down a member of the press on a whim, how long before he goes full Chavez? [...]
The NYSlimes: Behind War Between White House and Fox
WASHINGTON — Late last month, the senior White House adviser David Axelrod and Roger Ailes, chairman and chief executive of Fox News, met in an empty Palm steakhouse before it opened for the day, neutral ground secured for a secret tête-à-tête.
Mr. Ailes, who had reached out to Mr. Axelrod to address rising tensions between the network and the White House, told him that Fox’s reporters were fair, if tough, and should be considered separate from the Fox commentators who were skewering President Obama nightly, according to people briefed on the meeting. Mr. Axelrod said it was the view of the White House that Fox News had blurred the line between news and anti-Obama advocacy.
What both men took to be the start of a frank but productive dialogue proved, in retrospect, more akin to the round of pre-Pearl Harbor peace talks between the United States and Japan. [...]
So Obama against Fox News is like the USA against Japan. That's nice. I wonder where this kind of anti-Free Speech came from and where is it going? Is it Obamedia? Is Fox News NOT supporting the leader of the world?

Stephen Kruiser: Wimp House vs Fox News II: It’s Not Just Me
WaPo: Obama's dumb war with Fox News
There’s only one thing dumber than picking a fight with people who buy ink by the barrel -- picking a fight with people who don’t even have to buy ink. The Obama administration’s war on Fox News is dumb on multiple levels. It makes the White House look weak, unable to take Harry Truman’s advice and just deal with the heat. It makes the White House look small, dragged down to the level of Glenn Beck. It makes the White House look childish and petty at best, and it has a distinct Nixonian -- Agnewesque? -- aroma at worst. It is a self-defeating trifecta: it distracts attention from the Obama administration’s substantive message; it serves to help Fox, not punish it, by driving up ratings; and it deprives the White House, to the extent it refuses to provide administration officials to appear on the cable network, of access to an audience that is, in fact, broader than hard-core Obama haters. Donald Douglas: It Has Begun: White House Goes 'Khmer Rouge' in Attacks on Fox News
Fortunately the "other media" objected and this didn't get through the full wooky. However, it COULD happen.
