Hoffman Surges Into Lead in NY-23 — New CFG Poll shows Hoffman 31.3%, Owens 27.0%, Scozzafava 19.7% — Washington - A poll released today by the Club for Growth shows Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman surging into the lead in the special election [...]
AMEN! And MOST excellent! GO HOFFMAN!
Here's the local pooper-scooper: Ace at Ace: Weak-Sample Club for Growth Poll Puts Hoffman Ahead
Shut up Ace.
There is a wild three-way race going going on in the 23rd Congressional district in NY State, pitting liberal Republican Dede Scozzafava and Democrat Bill Owens both of whom have been endorsed by ACORN against the Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman. Scozzafava and Owens share many of the same positions on major issues such as Obamacare's public option, the Porkulus bill and Card Check. Hoffman's positions are more along the lines of a traditional conservative, he pushes fiscal responsibility and free enterprise. [...]
Hoffman MUST win this one!
[...] Of course -- grain-of-salt time. The most important thing in these numbers, however, is the indication that the liberal Republican Scozzafava has slipped into third place.
Remember that NY23 has consistently voted 2-to-1 for the conservative Republican Rep. John McHugh. So if GOP voters in the district perceive Scozzafava as a likely loser, you can expect a decisive shift toward Hoffman by Republican voters whose main concern is not to give Nancy Pelosi another Democratic vote.
If such a shift occurs, and Hoffman gets 60% of the GOP vote, that would likely put him at about 40% -- neck-and-neck with the Democrat Owens in a three-way race, with Scozzafava getting about 20%. [...]
Outstanding. This is getting betterer and betterer.
[...] Dierdre K. Scozzafava looks on as Senator Susan M. Collins, R-Maine, speaks to a crowd at Phoebe’s Restaurant, Route 11 in Canton, Saturday morning during a gathering in support of Scozzafava. (Watertown Daily Times)
Talk about out of touch– The NRCC will spend $200,000 to $300,000 on “TV ads propping up Scozzafava in the days leading up to the Nov. 3 contest and plans to keep up a near relentless barrage of press releases slamming Hoffman.”
What a disgrace. [...]
NRCC...out of touch and Cornyn needs to vanish.
[...] Republicans usually win this district easily, so a 4-point lead over a Democrat is still worrisome — and this is just one poll. Twenty-two percent undecided voters will make the difference. However, with the large influx of money to Hoffman and the national attention he has received, that may be the best news for the Conservative Party in this race. [...]
