The Federal Government and the USC: Control All Media?
Thu, December 3, 2009 at 12:39 Howard Kurtz / Washington Post: Washington Times cuts in staff, coverage cue new era
The Washington Times, which gained a strong foothold in a politically obsessed city as a conservative alternative to much of the mainstream media, is about to become a drastically smaller newspaper.
Nearly three decades after its founding by officials of the Unification Church, the Times said Wednesday it is laying off at least 40 percent of its staff and shifting mainly to free distribution.
In what amounts to a bid for survival, the company said the print edition will focus on its core strengths: politics, national security, investigative reporting and "cultural coverage based on traditional values." That means the Times will end its run as a full-service newspaper, slashing its coverage of local news, sports and features. [...]
Eric Lipton / New York Times: Black Caucus Seeks to Ease Radio's Woes
The radio business has nothing to do with the plan to overhaul the nation’s system for regulating banks and other financial institutions.
Except, it turns out, in Congress.
One of most intriguing mysteries here in recent weeks is why members of the Congressional Black Caucus have chosen to buck their party and president in trying to stall financial regulation reform.
The answer lies at least in part with an aggressive lobbying campaign by a troubled New York City-based radio broadcasting company, Inner City Broadcasting, whose co-founder is a prominent New York politician and businessman, Percy Sutton.
In a rare break with President Obama, the caucus, made up of black members of Congress, is holding back support for the legislation because it wants the administration to help minority-owned businesses, including Inner City, whose financial plight has been specifically identified in meetings with top administration officials. Congressional Black Caucus pushes bailout for Air America/Sharpton/Jackson crony
Well, well, well.
The Congressional Black Caucus is trying to shake down the White House — and taxpayers — by holding a Democrat financial regulation “reform” bill hostage until Team Obama stuffs it with taxpayer goodies for a minority-owned radio station.
The story is here and here. In brief: [...]
Demo-rat Waxman: Government Must Control Media

IT'S OBAMEDIA!
Government to bail out newspapers?
The push to provide newspapers a government bailout to save “independent” media got another boost from a rather likely source yesterday. As Danny Glover reports for Accuracy in Media, Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) spoke at an FTC seminar on the crisis in media markets, at which other speakers insisted that government has routinely intervened in media, even newspapers, and that opposition to it somehow violates the American tradition. But first, Waxman said, newspapers had to ask Congress for a handout: [...]
[...] From the private sector, to health care, and now media, the federal government under the progressives wants to take over and run the whole damned thing. One should not underestimate how serious this is, nor how serious they are. We need to start ending public options from business, tohealth care and, of course, as regards media. They already have PBS and we know where that has gone.
We can not allow this to happen. [...]
They want your BLOOD! Actually, this is all about the Marxist-socipathic way to control all things. And yes, we must fight this to the death.

What a disgrace on several levels. First, I thought black people were freed after the Civil War. Why is it that most of them walk lock-step with what they're told to do? How is that even remotely free choice? I'm sorry but I have to say it. Black people have been free since I've been born but as a group they act like they're still in bonds when others don't. How is it that 90% of ANY group can be relied upon to vote a certain way unless they are functionally dependent on someone else? How is it that we can have poverty within black neighborhoods in Detroit, Chicago, New Orleans, Oakland, and other cities completely controlled by Democrats and they still vote them into power? How is it that the one thing that would help their own children out of that mess like the voucher program is voted down? What the hell! How is it humanly possible to purposely ensure that your own f...ing children are kept down simply because you are told to vote that way? Are you kidding me? Blacks lined up in Detroit for Obama cash and they can't even articulate where the money comes from? Come on! Apparently it's more convenient to blame whites than to blame their own leaders for their situations or face the reality of the situation as it really exists. Why is it so obvious to the entire rest of the world that they are figurative "slaves" to their "leaders" and the Democrats they rely upon for handouts and they don't see it? Even a beaten dog will eventually turn on its oppressor and bite back. It's getting embarassing to watch this go on year after year, election after election. Secondly it is now quite obvious that the black voting block and their representatives have an adversarial relationship with the rest of the citizenry that works hard, pays taxes, and in reality pays for everything they receive and their sense of decency is being exploited exponentially. It appears that the theme that we should take from one group and give to the other is alive and well in the black community, the black caucus, and the left wing nuts that have never held a real job in the private sector who encourage this "entitlement" mentality that keeps them down and reliant. Apparently it is perceived that white people don't have to study, work hard, face adversity and hardships, experience failure, or experience reverse racism. White people have trees that grow money and we just pick it off the branches when we need it. Why is it that blacks in positions of power, whether it is in law enforcement, politics, or other jobs are the FIRST ones to try to oppress others and take away their rights or stifle free speech? Remember Katrina? Black officers in power treating black citizens like shit, disarming them, forcing them to leave their homes despite their wishes, and then locking them into a building without letting them leave. They were considered dogs and they used inexperienced white officers that were caught off guard to accomplish it. That won't happen again. A black conservative is all but tarred and feathered if they act like the rest of us free men and women who dare to speak the truth. Why is it that we can count on black politicians to be the few politicians that admire and fawn over Fidel Castro, Chavez, and every thug socialist dictator that threatens this country and oppresses their own citizens? Why is it that black politicians can constantly berate the Jews and get away with it? I'm calling you out. It's about time someone did. If you hate our country to that extent, then leave. Don't let the door hit you in the ass while you try to find another country better than ours. I'd be mortified if I belonged to a group that was looked upon as perpetual "victims" that can't think for themselves, can't take care of themselves without someone else's help, that are "off limits" when it comes to criticism because of someone else's guilt. I wouldn't be able to stand one second of being treated like a helpless child but apparently it is acceptable with a majority in the black community. There is an answer if you're done with your self-loathing. Vote Republican and get those oppressors that you've been supporting out of your lives.
