The U.S. Senator from Massachusetts succumbed to brain cancer at the age of 77 tonight. Put aside your ideological differences for an appropriate moment and mark this passing with solemnity.

For dying of cancer I have great sympathy, as I too have had a few family members fall victim as well. But let’s not mark him a “hero” either. Ted Kennedy’s “legacy” was forever formalized on July 18th, 1969, when while driving drunk he drove off a bridge and saving himself, he let Mary Jo Kopechne to die a horrible death by drowning. Then even after this he lied about the circumstances only coming clean after it was clear he was in the wrong. [...] go read the rest

I know that we’re all supposed be saying kind words about the recently deceased Ted Kennedy, and I pray for God’s fair judgment, but there must be some context to the man’s political career. And while the mainstream media will be highlighting his supposed contributions to American politics, I think it’s important to note his greatest failures which will always over shadow his years in the Senate. In particular, how he chose to side with America’s greatest enemy, the Soviet Union in the 1980’s. The Free Republic has the details… [...]
