Is this why Obama went to India?
India has successfully tested a medium-range version of its most powerful nuclear-capable missile during an army training exercise.
Defense Ministry spokesman Sitanshu Kar says the upgraded Agni-1 was fired from a testing range on an island off the eastern state of Orissa. The 12-ton, nuclear-capable missile with a 435-mile (700-kilometer) range has an advanced navigation system and can carry payloads of up to 2,200 pounds (1,000 kilograms).
Kar says the missile followed its planned trajectory to its target in the Bay of Bengal.
Nuclear-armed rivals India and Pakistan regularly test missiles. Kar says Pakistan was informed ahead of Thursday's test as part of "standard practice."
