PARIS – Judicial officials say French authorities have filed preliminary charges against six people close to President Paul Kagame of Rwanda over the 1994 killing of then-President Juvenal Habyarimana.
The officials said Thursday the six people were given preliminary charges last week for alleged "complicity in assassination in connection with a terrorist group" over a killing widely seen as a trigger to Rwanda's genocide.
Investigations by French judges related to the Rwandan genocide have soured relations between the two countries, which until recently had been on the mend.
