Dear Russell Brigade Member:
I doubt you’re following the play-by-play in the 12th Congressional District, but it’s the fight to watch!
Democrats have selected Mark Crist, one of John Murtha's staff members. Their criterion seemed to be aimed at identifying the one person who can best protect the status quo.
On the Republican side, Harrisburg and Washington insiders have been busy making the case for a candidate’s “electability” or “viability” based on the potential congressman’s personal wealth, and willingness to spend that wealth to get elected.
On one hand, these same Republican leaders are courting Tea Party and conservative reformers while undercutting them with charges that they are part of a “rebellion.” ‘Trust us,’ they say – ‘we’ll reform the party ourselves.’
Friends, the tug-of-war between the grassroots and the political establishment is nothing new. In fact, whether the issue is the right-to-life, taxes, spending or national security, the Republican establishment has always tended to criticize the change agents before recruiting them for the next election.
The difference in 2010 is that we can’t wait for the Republican establishment to get it right. Their selections in recent years are one of the key reasons Republicans have been unable to take advantage of the Democrat’s ethical and management failures.
In 2010, we have to choose candidates with the record to match the rhetoric. That’s why I need your support.
Here are three things you can do right now to help me get elected:
1. FILL OUT A VOLUNTEER PROFILE | There’s no cost, and you’ll receive the latest information about volunteer opportunities in your area.
2. GET A FREE BUMPER STICKER | Send your name and mailing address to Info@RussellBrigade.com and we’ll send you a FREE bumper sticker today.
3. WRITE A LETTER-TO-THE-EDITOR | If you live in the 12th Congressional District, please email a short endorsement letter on my behalf. You know my record, and my reasons for running – help me by making your message public!
Finally, thanks to the dozens and dozens of volunteers who circulated in the snow to get me on the ballot. I’m thankful for your hard work and perseverance.
With sincere thanks,
Lt. Colonel (USAR ret.)
Republican Candidate for Congress
P.S. If you haven’t made a CONTRIBUTION to my campaign lately – now would be a great time to do it! Your help in any amount would be a major boost to our efforts. Thanks in advance for your timely help.
