FCC Finally Kills Off Fairness Doctrine

The Snooper Report reported on this yesterday and we need to know what the Fairness Doctrine will be called next.  Stay tuned.

The FCC gave the coup de grace to the fairness doctrine Monday as the commission axed more than 80 media industry rules. Earlier this summer FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski agreed to erase the post WWII-era rule, but the action Monday puts the last nail into the coffin for the regulation that sought to ensure discussion over the airwaves of controversial issues did not exclude any particular point of view. A broadcaster that violated the rule risked losing its licence.

FCC to Delete 'Fairness Doctrine'

Ya think?  What will it be called next?  The libtards ALWAYS change the names of things, don’t they?  How many names is the ill-fated LIE of global warming going by now?

Federal regulators will propose removing the “Fairness Doctrine,” a controversial, if little used, regulation on political speech from the books this week, the Federal Communications Commission said Monday. FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski told lawmakers in June that the agency planned to dump the rule as part of a broader effort by the Obama administration to eliminate outdated and unneeded regulations. The agency’s media bureau said Monday that it will eliminate 83 rules including the Fairness Doctrine. The Fairness Doctrine, which has been around since 1949, required licensed broadcasters to give equal time to differing political views. The rule was introduced during an era in which there were far fewer media outlets and regulators wanted to ensure that listeners had access to both sides of political debate. The FCC abandoned the policy in 1987 during the Reagan administration, saying it violated broadcasters’ free speech rights, but the regulation remained on the books. Mr. Genachowski has said repeatedly over the years that he did not support the Fairness Doctrine. In June he told Republican lawmakers in a letter announcing his decision to kill the Fairness Doctrine that he believed it “holds the potential to chill free speech and the free flow of ideas” and would “fully support deleting” it. The rule won’t formally be removed from federal law until after the agency publishes a notice in the Federal Register. That process is expected to take a few weeks, an FCC official said. Conservatives have expressed concerns over the years that Democrats would try to revive the rules to kill conservative talk radio shows by requiring them to offer equal time to political opponents. Those concerns were heightened two years ago after the FCC appointed a vocal proponent of bringing back the Fairness Doctrine, lawyer Mark Lloyd, to head the agency’s diversity efforts

Fairness Doctrine, Net Neutrality - All Lack of Free Speech

UN mulls internet regulation options

Here comes the Fearness DoctrineThe Fearness Doctrine.  Net Neutrality.  It is all the same.  It is unconstitutional but don;t tell the “liberals”.  They just might get upset.

WikiLeaks sparks push for tighter controls.

Outstanding.  What a weird way to put the fact that Wikileaks just unearthed everything we all knew about the UN and, seeing as the “leaks” were leaked, and the UN has been trying to subdue itself, now they want to curb your internet.  I guess it was OK when the leaks screwed with the Bush Administration and it pretty much screwed up the Military, eh?  The UN.  What a waste of time.

The United Nations is considering whether to set up an inter-governmental working group to harmonise global efforts by policy makers to regulate the internet.

Establishment of such a group has the backing of several countries, spearheaded by Brazil.

At a meeting in New York on Wednesday, representatives from Brazil called for an international body made up of Government representatives that would attempt to create global standards for policing the internet - specifically in reaction to challenges such as WikiLeaks.

The Brazilian delegate stressed, however, that this should not be seen as a call for a “takeover” of the internet.

India, South Africa, China and Saudi Arabia appeared to favour a new possible over-arching inter-government body.

However, Australia, US, UK, Belgium and Canada and attending business and community representatives argued there were risks in forming yet another working group that might isolate itself from the industry, community users and the general public.

“My concern is that if we were to make a move to form a governmental-only body then that would send a very strong signal to civil society that their valuable contribution was not required or was not being looked for,” an un-named Australian representative told the meeting.

Debate on the creation of a new inter-governmental body stemmed from a UN Economic and Social Council resolution 2010/2 of 19 July.

The resolution invited the UN Secretary-General “to convene open and inclusive consultations involving all Member States and all other stakeholders with a view to assisting the process towards enhanced cooperation in order to enable Governments on an equal footing to carry out their roles and responsibilities in respect of international public policy issues pertaining to the Internet but not of the day-to-day technical and operational matters that do not impact upon those issues.”

Much debate concerned the meaning of “enhanced cooperation” and whether a new inter-governmental body was required. Participants also debated the roles of existing organisations - such as the Internet Governance Forum, ICANN and the ITU.

The IGF - an organisation that informs the UN but makes no decisions - is running close to the end of a five-year mandate, due to expire at the end of the year.

The likes of ISOC, ICANN and more recently the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) have recently expressed concerns [PDF] that a working panel to decide on the future of the IGF has been limited to representatives from member-states.

“Australia is a very strong supporter of the Internet Governance Forum,” the unidentified Australian UN representative said at the New York meeting this week. “That is very much due to the multi-stake-holder approach of the IGF. It is an inclusive process.”

Australia’s Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy said that Australian Government welcomed the resolution of the Second Committee of the United Nation General Assembly (UNGA) to extend the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) for a further five years.

The DBCDE said it would like to see the organisation retain an open and participatory membership.

“Australia has always supported the participation of civil society and the private sector in the IGF and regards their participation as being integral to the IGF’s success,” a spokesman told iTnews.

Groups want FCC to police hate speech on talk radio, cable news networks

YOU can have ALL the FREE SPEECH you would care to imbide in as long as YOU are a marxist-sociopath.  And then, when the Socialist State is in place, YOU, the marxist-sociopaths, will have ZERO Free Speech.  Morons.

The Fearness Doctrine. Fight The Fearness Doctrine.

[…] Thus, the American Civil Rights Union announces the Save Radio Free America campaign, in which radio talk show hosts and their supporters join to oppose the reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine or the advent of “localism” and “diversity” requirements that would crush freedom of the radio airwaves or on the Internet. […]

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is being urged to monitor “hate speech” on talk radio and cable broadcast networks.

A coalition of more than 30 organizations argue in a letter to the FCC that the Internet has made it harder for the public to separate the facts from bigotry masquerading as news.

The groups also charge that syndicated radio and cable television programs “masquerading as news” use hate as a profit model.

“As traditional media have become less diverse and less competitive, they have also grown less responsible and less responsive to the communities that they are supposed to serve,” the organizations wrote to the FCC. “In this same atmosphere hate speech thrives, as hate has developed as a profit-model for syndicated radio and cable television program masquerading as ‘news.’”

The organizations, which include Free Press, the Center for Media Justice, the Benton Foundation and Media Alliance, also argue that the anonymity of the Web gives ammunition to those that would spread hate. […]

And the wandering nomads of dumb are?  Marxist-sociopaths.

Read this article that I wrote many moons ago in the Land that Al Gore invented:  Dear GOP: You Know It and We Know It ….  Here is a snippet:

[…] Critics, however, view his broadcasts as divisive and inflammatory political propaganda, even dangerous demagoguery.

Time magazine’s Mark Halperin has labelled Limbaugh an “American iconic” figure. Meanwhile Arianna Huffington, a staunch supporter of President Barack Obama, dubbed Limbaugh and other conservative commentators “toxic curiosities”.

Limbaugh appears to relish such notoriety. One of his many soubriquets listed on the official Rush Limbaugh website is “the Most Dangerous Man in America”. Others include: “America’s Anchorman; America’s Truth Detector; the Doctor of Democracy; the All-Knowing, All-Sensing, All-Everything Maha Rushie; defender of motherhood, protector of fatherhood and an all-around good guy”. […]

[…] Limbaugh has been credited with enormous political influence, particularly among grassroots Republican Party members. Ronald Reagan once sent him a letter, thanking Limbaugh “for all you’re doing to promote Republican and conservative principles” and proclaiming him “the Number One voice for conservatism in our Country”. […]

[…] After the inauguration, Limbaugh declared on his radio show “I want Barack Obama to fail”. […]

[…] He reiterated the comment to Fox News’s Sean Hannity, saying: “I want him to fail. If his agenda is a far-left collectivism - some people say socialism - as a conservative heartfelt, deeply, why would I want socialism to succeed?”

His comments prompted Mr Obama to urge Republicans not to listen to his comments in the interests of bipartisan cooperation.

“You can’t just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done,” Mr Obama said. […]

This isn’t about Free Speech.  It is about shutting the opposistion off because Who Are the Morons That Listen To Marxist-Sociopathic Talk Radio Anyway?

Sound familiar?  Does it?  Remember this video from 2.2009?

But, then again, who cares about the United States Constitution?  Just remember: Net neutrality: Ain’t over ’til it’s over.

“Net neutrality:” Ain’t over ’til it’s over

Title from Michelle Malkin

A federal judge “did the right thing” for all the wrong reasons.  Did he mention the Constitutionality of it all?  No he did not.  What he did say is that “Congress” will have to give the permission.  And there you have it so this isn’t a win for Free People.  This is a scapegoat “ruling” to give the marxist-sociopaths of the FCC free reign from an unconstitutional Congress.  Get ready.

Who Are the Morons That Listen To Marxist-Sociopathic Talk Radio Anyway?

We hear all the talk about the Fairness Doctrine and all of that, don't we?  But who wants to listen to retarded people talking retarded stuff anyway?  The 30% of the nation that likes to hear the crap?  Who cares about them anyway?  Why have a Fairness Doctrine to be financed by people that don't want to hear their crap?  We have the government run NPR and they are about as libtardish as anyone in government can be.  Which part of the government is going to pay for a conservative show?  If the cretins do get the Fairness Doctrine, will they make a conservative or two to even play on PBS?  I don't think so.  Anyway, Air America is toast.

Lib talk radio flops again: Air America goes bankrupt

Banrupt and that's right where they belong...out of business.  I wonder how many bail outs they got to save a useless and non-profitable radio station?

The surprise isn’t that liberal talk radio network Air America announced it is going bankrupt today.

The surprise is that they lasted so long on fumes.

Here’s an excerpt of the statement on its website pulling the plug (hat tip: Brian Stelter, who has more here): [...]

Breaking: Air America Ceases Live Programming, Will File for Bankruptcy

It is with the greatest regret, on behalf of our Board, that we must announce that Air America Media is ceasing its live programming operations as of this afternoon, and that the Company will file soon under Chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code to carry out an orderly winding-down of the business. [...]

I am so upset...that it has taken this long for a POS radio station to finally shut down.

Air America pulls the plug

And it is about time, isnt it?

[...] The boss has been predicting their implosion since practically day one of Hot Air. Like she says, given their longstanding financial nightmares, the only surprise is that they lasted this long. Cause of death, per our favorite liberal: Suckage.

Exit question: Brown wins, ObamaCare’s on life support, McCain/Feingold gets gut-punched by SCOTUS, now this. What happens tomorrow? Does Rupert Murdoch buy the Times or something? [end]

Air America Off The Air - Actually Almost Nobody Hardest Hit

[...] Actually it never was in business, that was the problem. Bankrupt of ideas and advertisers.  EIB RULES. [end]

Air America Ceases Live Programming, Filing for Bankruptcy / Blame ObamaEconomy

Didn't they already die once or twice? [...]

Progressive Talk Radio Channel Air America Closes Shop

[...] Air America, the liberal alternative to conservative talk radio, abruptly closed its doors today. [...]

Air America Crashes, Burns — Will Anyone Besides Franken and Maddow Notice?

Air America announced today, with little fanfare, that it is ceasing operations and filing for bankruptcy, citing “tough economic times” as the reason. Quite honestly, I’m shocked that they didn’t blame Bush. Or global warming.

It’s not the economy, stupid.

Talk radio continues to thrive and do exceptionally well – in the conservative market. There is a reason for this, and it has nothing to do with unfairness but everything to do with the free market. [...]

I could care less about libtard radio.  Who needs their crap?

Radio Silence: Air America Bankrupt -- I Blame Global Warming

Gotta watch that global warming myth...

[...] Pointing to Franken and Madcow as "prominent" graduates of the Air America network is somewhat akin to claiming a thigh rash as a "prominent" anatomical feature. [end]

Not Since the Collapse of Culture 11 . . .

[...] Air America offered a product for which there was no demand.  Conservative talk radio exists primarily because of the market demand for an alternative to the liberal major media. This market went untapped until repeal of the Fairness Doctrine permitted radio stations to air conservative opinion without rebuttal. Rush Limbaugh saw the opportunity and thereby a new medium was born. [...]

And that's the way the ball bounces.

Buh bye Air Unamerica.

Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh On the Attack On Free Rights

Updated on Thu, August 27, 2009 at 7:46 by Registered CommenterMark "Snooper" Harvey

Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh were explaining the American Free Speech and how the leftists in this nation are flat out against ANY free speech items UNLESS the spoken language agrees with the leftists.  Unfortunately, Allahpundit is once again talking out of his square ass.

“Allahpundit: Another day, another harrowing clip of one of our new “czars” extolling the virtues of radical leftism. And yet, Limbaugh’s right:”  And yet Limbaugh’s right?  Shut up Allahpundit!

Fight The Fearness Doctrine

If you have a radio station, no matter what type, you need to hook up with this group:

Save Radio Free America

Brought to you by the American Civil Rights Union (ACRU)

After the Iron Curtain fell over Soviet-dominated Eastern Europe in the wake of World War II, Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty played a vital role in broadcasting news and opinion to people deprived of it by censorious governments. Nobel laureate and Poland freedom fighter Lech Walesa told an audience in 1989 that Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty’s importance “cannot even be described. Would there be earth without the sun?”

Today, with all other major American media dominated by liberal and left-leaning programming, conservative talk radio is the American equivalent of Radio Free Europe. It’s no wonder that powerful liberals, from former President Clinton to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, have talked aloud of using government power to shackle talk radio.

Thus, the American Civil Rights Union announces the Save Radio Free America campaign, in which radio talk show hosts and their supporters join to oppose the reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine or the advent of “localism” and “diversity” requirements that would crush freedom of the radio airwaves or on the Internet.

Americans have the freedom to listen – for now. is dedicated to keeping it that way.

Unholy Alliance Forged to Destroy Rush

Updated on Thu, March 5, 2009 at 16:08 by Registered CommenterMark "Snooper" Harvey

From the Desk of:
David Martin, Executive Vice President

MARCH 5, 2009

++ Liberal Media joins forces with the White House to destroy Rush Limbaugh.
See details and critical Action Items below.

Politico is reporting that the latest blistering attacks by the media against Rush Limbaugh, depicting him as the new face of the Republican Party, were hatched by Democratic Strategists and are “now being guided in part from inside the White House.”

These “attack Rush” talking points, crafted in daily strategy sessions, are quickly finding their way into news outlets by leftist talking heads who present themselves as objective reporters and their remarks as truth!

Did Obama Lie?

Did Obama lie, again?  Well, the first clue is this: his lips were moving.  By the way, never has a person living in the once White House, now the Marxist House, fallen from Grace so far and so fast in such little time as Obama has.  I find it highly curious that when GWB's approval ratings were referred to, they ALWAYS mentioned that he was at such and such a level now but has fallen from such and such level.  However, Obama's approval rating isn't the topic of this article.  It's about the Fairness (Fearness) Doctrine.

I wonder how those Fair Weather Conservatives feel now that they have shown their true colors?  Wasn't it they that said the Fearness Doctrine would never rear its ugly head?

Sen Jim DeMint forced the Democrats to commit either way and they did in a big way.

Liberal Radio Host Ed Schultz Proves Our Point - Accidentally

In an inadvertent and quite by accident chain of events, a liberal talk show host proves beyond a shadow of a doubt helped El Rushbo prove his point about the need to kill the Fearness Doctrine here and now.  There is nothing "fair" about it unless "fair" means shutting the very popular nation-wide craving for Conservative News down.  Naturally, "fair" does not mean that Keith Overbite will have to share half his time with El Rushbo  "Fair" to a libtard drooling and driveling mental case means that only liberal point of views are worthy.  I guess that explains why print news is failing in the liberal land of stupidity and liberal talk radio is a dismal failure because it so bloody popular.  "Fair" means doing away with with Free Markets.

Top-rated radio host Rush Limbaugh has gotten some unexpected help in his campaign against the so-called Fairness Doctrine that would censor conservative talk radio -- liberal radio host Ed Schultz, though Schultz most assuredly did not intend for this to happen.

On his nationally syndicated program Friday, Schultz read excerpts from an op-ed written by Limbaugh and published in that day's Wall Street Journal, a column taking the form of a letter to President Obama. [...]

The liberal talkie-troll proceeds to read the Op-Ed and whines about it the whole time.  In the reference section below, you will find the link to this story and at Newsbusters, you will find the audio link to the Ed Schultz show in question.

The Fraidy Cat Doctrine or the You Don't Agree With Me Whinery

Alrighty then!  I have read El Rushbo's Op-Ed in the WSJ which was published on 2.20.09, a day or so after the Obama Goon came out and said that Obama wasn't for the Fairness Doctrine.  Of course he isn't.  It has an evil connotation to it so it will be called something else.  The Fairness Doctrine, Localism and Radio Accountability didn't go over so well so the name has to, NAY!, must change to something more appealing and more attractive to the idiots that cannot think for themselves.

El Rushbo seems to think that the reason Obama goons came out ahead of the OP-Ed  was to run interference seeing that El Rushbo is merely an insignificant entertainer and no one can get anything done listening to Rush Limbaugh.  Here's what El Rushbo had to say about all of this:

And they know itWithin this web site are two articles written by two separate individuals.  One is by Josh AllemThe other is mine.  The articles are in regards to the Conservative Icon, Rush Limbaugh, aka El Rushbo.  He is the Conservative Icon because he says what we all feel but do not have the medium of which to express ourselves as he does.  We count on him because we cannot count on nour politicians to represent us.  The unconstitutional stimulus package is a prime example of that.  Now, the Leftinistra are gearing up - again - to shut him up because they fear him.

Both articles are in regards to El Rushbo, affectionately named.  Rush Limbaugh scares the hell out of the Leftinistra whether they are a Republican, a Democrat, an Independent or a morphed combination of the three.  They fear him.  That's why the Leftinistra want to stifle his constitutional right of Free Speech.  The Leftinistra call it the Fairness Doctrine or Localism or Radio Accountability. The term "fairness doctrine" leaves an evil aura lingering about so the terminology was changed to "localism".  Localism wasn't received very well because it was just another "ism" developed by political hacks.  So, it was determined to follow suit with the Übermessias Obama's "transparency and accountability" buffoonery and change the "fairness doctrine" to "radio accountability".

Fairness Doctrine.  Localism.  And now?  Radio Accountability.  Good grief.

Sen. Stabenow wants hearings on radio 'accountability'; talks fairness doctrine

The other day, the liberal talk radio show dedicated to The Czar tanked, crashed and burned.  Jammie Wearing Fool and Hot Air carried the blogosphere on this the other day and their source was the Washington Compost.

How coincidental is it that now we are hearing about radio accountability?  Are they angry because NO ONE wants to listen to the libtard whine and pass their lies off as Truth?  Just wondering.

[...] President Obama may be riding high in Washington, but OBAMA 1260 is not.

The area’s only progressive talk station is changing formats, dropping such syndicated liberal hosts as Ed Schultz, Stephanie Miller and Bill Press in favor of financial news, starting next week.

The move by Redskins owner Dan Snyder, who purchased the station, WWRC, and others in Washington last summer, leaves the city without a liberal radio outlet. Program Director Greg Tantum says he thought the station could work because of enthusiasm over Obama, but that ratings collapsed to a level that could not be measured after the election.

But ratings nearly doubled, he says, at Snyder’s conservative station, WTNT, which features Laura Ingraham and Bill Bennett. [...]

And therein lies the rub.  Those darn Conservative stations are going like gang busters and they just cannot have that.  Rush Limbaugh is #1 and that is why the libtards go after him as they do.  Truth does to them like fingernails on a chalkboard.

In part, here is how the conversation went with the dweeb known as Michigan Sen. Debbie Stabenow.

The Center for Individual Freedom has issued an alert in regards to the Marxists in DC pushing the Fairness Doctrine back into the lime lights.

According to Congressman Mike Pence, and others, the Pelosi-controlled Congress HAS JUST RENEWED ITS ATTACK on Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham and others. They're ONCE AGAIN trying to shut down conservative talk-radio by bringing back the so-called Fairness Doctrine.

“Over the past few months, some of the most powerful Democrats in Congress have made their intentions to restore this Depression-era regulation clear. However, bringing back the Fairness Doctrine would amount to government control over political views expressed on the public air waves. It is dangerous to suggest that the government should be in the business of rationing free speech."

Congressman Pence isn't the only one sounding the alarm. [...] (read the rest)

Thank God for Mike Pence.

Good little Marxists they are, eh?  Why aren't they going after the print media?  Could it be that the print media is already walking lock-step/goose-step with the Marxists and have been for decades?  Read the List of 45 in case you get a burning desire to figure this issue out.
